The short version
- No accounts. We don't know who you are.
- Your location is used only when you tap “Reading near me”, and only after you allow it. We don't store it.
- No ads, no selling data, no tracking across apps or sites.
Who we are
Habooby is made by Data Hound Tech LLC (“we,” “us”), a small independent developer in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. This policy covers the Habooby website (habooby.traqqit.com), the installed web app and the Android app. Contact: alex@datahoundtech.com.
What Habooby does
Habooby shows a live map of dust, wind, air quality, weather radar, rainfall and weather alerts. To do that, it asks public weather and air-quality services for data about the area on the map. Most of these requests go straight from your device to those services.
Your location
Habooby never asks for your location on its own. When you tap Reading near me (or Use my location on the welcome screen), your phone or browser asks you for permission. If you allow it, your device's coordinates are sent:
- directly from your device to Open-Meteo (air quality and weather at your spot), OpenStreetMap Nominatim (to look up your ZIP code) and the U.S. National Weather Service (active alerts);
- as a ZIP code only to our server, which passes it on to pollen.com for the pollen forecast.
We don't store your coordinates or your ZIP code, and we don't build a location history. You can turn the permission off at any time in your phone or browser settings, and the map still works without it.
When you move the map around, the center of the area you're viewing (not your location) is sent to Open-Meteo and the National Weather Service to load the map data.
What stays on your device
A few settings are saved on your device only: whether you've seen the welcome screen, whether the side panel is collapsed, the bottom sheet position, and which advisories you've dismissed. The “download” button draws your reading as an image on your device and never uploads it. Clearing the app's storage or uninstalling removes all of this.
Analytics
We use Umami, an open-source analytics tool we host ourselves at stats.traqqit.com. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. It records page views and general visit information (page, referring site, browser, operating system, device type, screen size, language) and works out an approximate location (country, region, city) from your IP address. The IP address itself is not stored. Analytics never includes your GPS location.
Our server logs
Like any website, our server (hosted by Hostinger) handles your requests and may keep short-lived security logs that include your IP address. These are usually deleted automatically within about 7 days.
Other services the app loads
These services receive your IP address and normal browser information when the app loads data from them. Each one has its own privacy policy.
| Service | What for |
|---|---|
| Open-Meteo | Dust, air quality, wind and temperature forecasts |
| U.S. National Weather Service | Active dust and air-quality alerts |
| RainViewer | Weather radar images |
| Maricopa County Flood Control District | Rain gauge readings (through our server) |
| pollen.com | Pollen forecast by ZIP code (through our server) |
| OpenStreetMap Nominatim | Finding the ZIP code for your reading |
| CARTO / OpenStreetMap | Base map tiles |
| Google Fonts, unpkg, jsDelivr | The app's font and map code |
What we don't do
- No ads and no advertising ID.
- We don't sell or rent data, and we don't share it with data brokers.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
Children
Habooby is a general-audience weather app and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Not a safety service
Map data is modeled and can be late or wrong. Don't rely on Habooby for decisions about your safety or health. In a dust storm, follow the National Weather Service and local officials: pull aside, stay alive.
Where we operate
We're based in the United States, and Habooby is built for U.S. users.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
